The Enemy Within

The last few weeks have seen massive disruption at all of the UK's airports due to the uncovering of plots to explode devices on flights heading to the USA. The press and media have had a field day, of course, building up a frenzy of many
"what if ?" scenarios, which is of little comfort to the passengers who have journeys to make.
The big "surprise" was the sudden discovery that you can actually make a destructive device by blending two liquids together and that the liquids are likely to be hidden in cabin baggage and mixed at some stage of the flight to cause chaos. Surely it is obvious that any route would be explored by these murderers ?
Well I am no scientist, but such information is freely available on the Internet, and experts have known this fact for decades ? That cabin bags that may contain harmful materials comes as such a surprise? yes, to people that have short memorys!. In 1988 the Lockerbie disaster that saw the plane explode killing 270 people of 21 nations, 189 Americans, this should have been the event that would show a huge shift in the way that terrorists had adapted to a way of creating a bigger impact. But we seem to ignore the warnings and suffer the consequences.

What was really good was hearing the heads of the Muslim Council condemn this attempted murder as an act against the religious beliefs that are an important part of their lives, as ultimately is is the Muslims that will suffer as they will all be put in the catagory of possible terrorists by people too ignorant to bother to learn the facts, and instead sharing the view of the media which sometimes tells blatant lies.
